Cancer, my wife and I

No one sees what I see.  I am the caregiver.  The one who helps.  I live afraid.  I don’t feel the pain she does, but I see it.  The groans in the night hurt me, but no one knows.  I see the effort it takes for her to move.  The sweat pouring, dripping from her chin as she struggles to walk across the room.  Or the effort it takes to get out of bed, knowing that the day will be filled with nausea from the chemo.  I see it all. No one else, just me.  The courage, ever present, the will to live, to beat this persistent evil.  I know the pain is always there, yet at times it seems absent.  She is facing a terminal illness.  The big C.  Stage 4.  And all I can do is be here, helping.  I am her nurse,  clean house, prepare meals, make sure she takes the right pills at the right time, pay bills, or not…since we don’t have near enough money to go around.  I work, I check on her often, I pray.  Most of all, I pray.  I don’t want to accept anything.  I know what it means to say “I’ll think about it tomorrow!”  I am a good listener.  I have to be.  In a moment I can change to meet the needs.  Somber, laughing, intense, whatever it takes to help, somehow.

We need financial help.  She needs friends.  Someone to call, to say hi, to listen.  I try.  But I can’t do it all.

So many are praying with us.   And we are thankful….especially me.  For I have been blessed.  I am a caregiver.  Jesus said whatever we do for one of his little ones, we do for him….well she is his.   So I am super blessed.   Thank you God for this opportunity.

The hardest time in our lives can be a blessing

I face a trial in my life, one that I never dreamed I would have to face.  I can’t pronounce the name of the cancer.  But I know it is there.  I am in pain most of the time now, and my days are blurred with nausea from chemo.  One short week and I am already so very tired.  I trust in God.  I believe in his son, Jesus Christ, and I am his.  I am not able to understand his plan, but I know I am a part of it.

Love the Opportunity by Jim Rohn

Somebody said you have to love what you do, but that's not necessarily true. What is true is that

As employment falls, the ranks of at-home sales reps are swelling for cosmetics marketers
Avon and Mary Kay.  In fact, sales are holding up well for the recession-resistant direct-selling
industry.   According to Amy Robinson, VP-communications for the Direct Selling Association,
historically during nonrecession years, the gross domestic product increases about 3.3% and
direct sales increase 3.6%.   But during this recession, GDP has gone up on average just 0.8%,
while direct sales increased 4.5%.

“People don’t stop spending; they just spend differently,” Ms. Robinson said.

In fact, people staying at home more can translate to more in-home parties, an opportunity for
those selling personal-care products, which make up 27.5% of the total industry. Also, Ms. Breig said,
with more people at home, online lead generation is up 92% year over year in inquiries about becoming
a representative.

Tapping economic themes, the reps comments include: “It’s just a great way to earn extra money”
and “I can’t get fired. I can’t get laid off. It’s my business.”
